Putting People First: Meeting the underlying needs and aspirations of vulnerable people
3rd & 4th November 2008, Holiday Inn Peterborough West
- Are current perceptions of vulnerability helpful?
- What works when ‘motivating the unmotivated’?
- How can services better reinforce the positive identity of service users?
- Is separating intensive management and support from housing management best for service users?
- How can a focus on communities strengthen the independence of individuals and ensure effective resettlement?
- How do we ensure services assist the social and emotional needs of end users?
- How do we effectively integrate person centred services for vulnerable people?
- What might be effective in managing and retaining expertise in our organisations and the sector?
- Where and how might we diversify income and funding streams?
…and if we do all this how do we measure success?!
We have put together a busy and exciting schedule for this two-day event, with plenty of opportunities for networking and information sharing. The programme begins on Monday 3rd November at 4pm with a debate in the style of the BBC Question Time format, followed by the Space East AGM, a drinks reception, dinner and entertainment. Day 2 will be spent in professionally facilitated and highly participatory discussions leading to clear actions to take away and practically apply. The sessions will be led by Mick Kain, Independent Facilitator and Trainer, and the day will involve and be shaped by active participation from service users with a range of perspectives. We will focus on a fundamental question - How do we keep the service user at the centre of everything we do?
Space East conferences bring together those with strategic responsibilities and those with operational roles. This event will be of interest to policy makers, service managers and support staff across:
- Not for profit service providers including Housing Associations
- Supporting People Teams
- Adult Social Care Services
- Mental Health Services
- Drug and Alcohol Partnerships
- Probation teams
- Primary Care Trusts
