Welcome to the New Space East website
Space considers the not-for-profit sector as effective in its delivery of supported housing and related services to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged. It regards the sector as an expert source of knowledge of the needs of users of these services. The sector is able to address ‘supply and service gaps’ with speed, flexibility and innovation and works across multiple services, agencies and locations. As a sector engaged with the most vulnerable, it is a critical contributor in the design and delivery of services and a key strategic partner for the commissioners of services.
- We believe that there is a continuing need for support to frontline not-for-profit agencies working in this context.
- There is a need at times for coordination and coherence across these services (while ensuring a diverse and flexible approach to meeting the needs of individuals and organisations is maintained).
- There is a need for a collective and independent voice for this sector that influences and shapes policy and the commissioning of services at local and regional levels.
- There is a need for tailored and bespoke support to not-for-profit agencies in the form of information and advice, learning opportunities and in keeping a-pace with continuous changes.
- We believe we are well-placed, in partnership with our members and their needs, to provide needs-based, added value services.
- To do so, we recognise that our members and sponsors will judge us first on what we do then what we say. We also recognise that this creates demands on us to be a quality organisation providing excellent added-value services and that we are an organisation people want to work for.
Critically, how we achieve this requires being mindful of the values and ethos of the organisation i.e. one that puts processes, people and relations at the centre of its approach.
